Blessings, I trust each family is preparing for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holidays with Christmas just around the corner. This is always an exciting and festive time of the year which allows each of us the opportunity to spend time with our family and relatives. This is also a very busy time in regards to the numerous school activities which will begin during the first week of December through Christmas break on December 19th.
There is much to be thankful for during this time of the year. I am grateful that the Lord led my wife and me to California to work under the direction of Calvary Lutheran Church and Pastor Smith. I often find myself in awe at the overall dedication and commitment of each of our teachers, staff members, and office personnel. We are indeed blessed having a school where students are not only challenged to reach their full potential, but, also where they are taught how to respect, work, and play with others.
There are many areas which require your attention and help in continuing to make CLS "the place to be." Let me review some of the more pressing needs which require your attention and immediate support:
Parent Volunteers. Parent volunteers are neededon Tuesday and Wednesday to cover recess and lunch for students in grades K-8. There are many times where our teachers need a short break in their daily schedule to unwind and be able to use the restroom. We need one volunteer on each day to oversee recess from 9:50 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. and to cover lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. Your help is truly appreciated. Please contact Mrs. Schibler at the school office to schedule a day to help our teachers who give so much to our children.
Calvary Club - Thanksgiving Break. Calvary Club will be open Monday through Wednesday, November 24-26 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm during the week of Thanksgiving.
Calvary Family Association Meeting. Tuesday, November 18th @ 6:45 pm in Parish Hall. Come out and meet other CLS parents while taking an active role in supporting and helping your school.
Would you be willing to donate a gently used 42-46 inch flat screen TV? If you are looking to buy a new flat screen television during the holidays, consider donating your older one to CLS. The technology committee led by Mr. Mussack, Mr. Henry, and Dr. C, are looking to exchange our present televisions in each of the classrooms with flat screen models.
Teacher "Wish List." I will be asking each teacher from preschool through 8th grade to provide one specific need for their classroom which will enhance and aid them in their instruction. Once the list is compiled, I will present it to all CLS parents via letter asking each parent of their respective grade level child to contribute as able.
In closing, I want to briefly share what each family can anticipate following Christmas break regarding CLS and its subsequent plans for the future. Each family will receive a strategic plan encompassing one year, three years, and five years. Each strategic plan will coincide with the following plan in order to provide a clear picture of what you can expect regarding our growth and success.
Within the next few weeks, Pastor Smith and I will be presenting the CLS tuition rates for the 2015-16 school year. One of the more important aspects of a school is developing a clear-cut direction in regards to its growth and fiscal stability. We have something very special at Calvary Lutheran School and we want you to remain a part of our bright future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael Hemme Chivalette
Superintendent
