Halloween Parade & Extravaganza Making Memories We had a great turn out for the Parade this year and our students proudly carried 2 banners made by Lifetouch in the Parade. One of our church members, Phil Glock, drove his 1931 Ford in the Parade to the delight of all. At the Extravaganza, many children came to play our bean bag game, get candy and hear a little bit about our school and the upcoming Bethlehem Express this December (see article listed in newsletter).

This week's Teacher Feature is... Mrs. Chrystle Vincent Mrs. Vincent is the Preschool Director of our Pre-Kindergarten and Preschool classes. She graduated from San Diego State with a B.A. in Comparative Literature and minored in Art. After the birth of her first child she obtained an A.A. in Early Childhood and taught in the Bay Area. She was then asked to become the Director of the Preschool program at Calvary. Shealsotaught 7th and 8th grade Literature, English, Art and P.E. for many years at Calvary in the afternoon and taught Preschool in the mornings. She then started and taught the 6th, 7th and 8th grade Spanish program. Mrs. Vincent now enjoys directing and teaching the students in her Pre-K and Preschool programs as well as acting as a mentor for some of our teachers. Mrs. Vincent grew up in South America where her American parents had relocated after her Father retired from the Air force. She moved to La Jolla, CA with her family when she was 17. She loves living in the States though she does miss South America. She adores spending time with her family and friends outdoors hiking, riding, boating and canoeing. She also loves to read, do "art" and garden with her not so helpful, silly, big dogs. She feels very blessed to be able to teach the 3 Rs as well as the 3 Ls (Learning, Laughing and Loving with Jesus) at Calvary. |

Calvary's Creepy Crawlies Make the Paper, er...Compost
| Miss Grace's 3rd-4th Grade Class made the San Leandro Times last week when one of the writers came out to do a story on the worm compost bins that the class has been tending. The worm bins were donated 2 years ago by student Elizabeth Swan's father, Robert, who owns Red Earth Worms. The worms give the class the opportunity to learn about using and managing the earth's resources, taking food scraps, paper and other waste items and using worms to turn it into compost. The class enjoys bringing in scraps and paper to feed the worms, but the one thing they don't enjoy is the smell! :) |
Walk for Cans
| Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with Walk for Cans.
Now through Nov. 15th bring your collected donations to your child's classroom. Although Pre-School did not walk, they will be collecting donations in their classroom. The class with the most donations will receive FREE DRESS. |
