One-Year Strategic Plan for 2015-2016
Educational Goals and objectives
1) Improve use of technology within classroom instruction
- Effective use and implementation of technology to encourage student
- Participation and understanding
- Required use of Kindles with new flat screen televisions as part of instructional process
2) Continue Faculty and Staff Professional Development Program
- Ongoing teacher observation and evaluation
- On site instruction and professional programs
- Graduate school instruction
- Implement teaching workshops in coordination with other private schools
- Provide opportunities to visit and observe local schools
- Self-assessment and mentoring program
3) Obtain acceptable three-year report from WASC and LSCA based upon November 2015 school visit
4) Restructure CLS website
5) Revise school admissions process
- Enhanced entrance testing for all new students
- Probationary period to aid in assessment of schools' ability to aid student needs
6) Evaluate school curriculum and classroom approach to learning
- Form parent/faculty committee under direction of superintendent to review and address curriculum needs
- Work with teachers to provide pre, mid, and post testing in core subject areas (math, science, history, language arts)
7) Continue focus on single grade level system - moving away from combined grades
- Separating grades versus combined grade levels

Buildings and Facilities
1) Continue joint effort with CFA in the enhancement of current facility
- Trees planted along fence lines
- Provide continued fundraising events for further development of classroom needs
2) Enhance image of Calvary Lutheran School facilities
- New LED signage facing Arriba
- New church and school signage on Via Magdalena
- Re-painting offices and outside areas
3) Provide new playground materials for students and for PE classes
4) Begin process of developing and implementing a Capital Campaign for Multi-
Purpose facility (gym and classrooms)
- Phase 1- develop and implement capital campaign
- Phase 2 - years 2-4 raise funds for building multi-purpose facility (gym and classrooms)
- Phase 3 - year 5 break ground
5) Upgrade Storage
- On-site storage units to accommodate storage of useable items
6) Remove clutter and out-dated materials from classrooms and offices
7) Develop plan addressing future growth of grades and effective use of facilities
Parents/Alumni
1) Improve communication with parents and constituents
- Begin morning "Coffee Break with DR.C" once a month following student drop- off, allowing parents to share and discuss with superintendent
- Involve parents in committees to aid and support school
- Utilize Facebook and website to communicate more effectively
2) Develop homeroom parent support in conjunction with CFA
- Organize classroom events and support of classroom teachers
3) Focus on program requiring more parental involvement
4) Support overall mission of CLS

Academic Programs
1) Develop a afterschool enrichment programs for elementary and middle school

2) Expand fine arts
- Establishing school drama and skits for use in chapels and school-based programs
- Focus on instrumental and vocal music program enabling students to compete as well as share their talents with local civic groups and churches
3) Utilize middle school student government in local community and civic outreach
- "Calvary Cares" - local outreach program
4) Focus on improved approach in meeting individual learning needs of students
- Focus on "differentiated" learning (meeting student needs with appropriate strategies)
5) Improve academic program with focus on math, reading, and across curriculum writing
- Focus on basic foundational skills reinforcement
6) Develop weighted numerical grading program for middle school students

- Provide Spanish classes all classes
8) Expand physical education program
Finances
1) Develop program of fiscal accountability and transparency
- Providing annual budgetary information at CFA State of the School Report (spring)
- Focus on a balanced budget
2) Develop student scholarship/financial aid program with attached endowment program aided by local individuals and businesses
- Establish clear-cut guidelines and cut-off dates for initial eligibility
- Provide "work study" program for those receiving financial aid, allowing families to provide additional hours beyond the required PPP hours to work off financial aid they have been given
3) Increase student foreign exchange program
- Continue to expand current program within middle school (limit to 20% per grade level)
- Extend connections with more student exchange organizations
- Encourage current CLS families to "host" exchange students
4) Implement program of student growth through enrollment and retention
- Seeking 5% growth in 2015-16
5) Develop and implement 5-year capital campaign program
6) Focus on utilizing two major fundraisers (fall and spring)
- Established goal to raise funds for specific school needs
Marketing
1) Seek opportunities for CLS students to perform at local churches and civic organizations
- Opportunities for choral singing, bells, skits, and drama
2) Provide one, three, and five-year strategic plans for all current and prospective families
- Three and five-year strategic plans to presented end of March 2015
3) Enable students to perform charitable work at local community events
4) Improve athletic program
5) Develop current brochures, videos, focusing on "CLS, Where Each Student Counts"
6) Improve website - current and updated
