The cold and flu season is coming upon us... If you feel your child is sick or might be sick, we ask you to please keep them at home.
If your child's temperature is 99 degrees or higher, it is considered a low-grade temperature. Please keep your child at home as whatever your child has is now considered contagious.
Is your child very tired? Does s/he have a dry cough (as opposed to one that's mucus-y)? Is his/her appetite decreased? Any aches or chills?
If your child shows any of these symptoms, we courage you to contact your local physician and discuss your child's symptoms.
Thank You.

"National Make A Difference Day" at Calvary
Thursday, October 30th
This year, the school is helping local needy families in our area by "walking for cans." All of the donations from this event will be given to a local food bank. On October 30th, each class will have a thirty-minute period to walk a course on the school grounds. The course is about 1/5 of a mile and takes an adult about 3 minutes to walk. For each lap completed your child will receive the specified item (money or canned goods) pledged by his/her sponsor.
Between now and October 30th, we encourage you to help your child get sponsors for this activity. Ask your family, friends, and neighbors to help with sponsoring this event.
After the October 30th Walk for Cans, please collect the pledges and bring them to your child's classroom no later than Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Several parents will be needed to help with the walk. If you can help, please call the school off (510) 278-2598.

~ SOME VERY IMPORTANT REMINDERS ~
- When dropping your child off in their classroom, please make sure you leave the classroom no later than 8:30 a.m. This is not the time to start discussing questions or concerns regarding your child. Parent-Teacher conference is coming up Oct. 23-24 and this is a better time to discuss your concerns. In addition, you can e-mail your teacher at any time and set-up an appointment, which would work better for you, the parent, the teacher, and the students. We really need to allow our teachers to begin teaching at 8:30 a.m.
- All (parking lot) gates close at 8:40 a.m. If you are planning to stay and volunteer, please move your car before that time and park it in the front lot of the church/school parking lot, or side streets.
- Anyone visiting or volunteering at Calvary Lutheran School MUST sign-in in the school office and you MUST wear a "Volunteer" or "Visitors" badge. Please see the school secretary for any assistance or direction.
- Students are NOT allowed to wear or bring perfume or make-up to school. Any and all make-up and/or perfume will be confiscated.
- Remember to submit your Parent-Teacher Conference request for conferencing time by today, Oct. 10th.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is no self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." I Cor. 13:4-7 (NIV)
