Stop by the church or school office to pick up a registration card--VBS is 8/6 - 8/10 from 9am - 12pm, with a closing program on 8/10 at 11:30-12:30 followed by a BBQ.

It may sound like work, but there's a whole lot of fun going on!   
Bring the family and lend a helping hand as we spruce up for Back-to-School. It's a great way to have fun and get a headstart on your PPP hours, too!

(CPA will graciously be providing the hot dogs) 

 

We will begin with a special church service at 9:00am where our  principal, Mr. Brauer and the teachers will be commissioned. This means that the staff is being "rededicated" in their service to the Lord and your family for the new school year.             

  •  At approximately 10:30am we will be serving a bbq lunch.
  •  Student planners, Bibles, and Hymnals will be sold and the "Gently used" uniforms will also be available.
  •  The classrooms will be open for you to see.
  •  Jump house and water wars for all who wish to           participate.
  • Social time will take place... come and reconnect with your friends and make some new friends!

We are currently enrolling new students, tell your friends and neighbors, see you there!

Get ready for Calvary's Craft Fair
October 6th & 7th 10am - 5pm
Got a hobby? A little creative flair?
Sign up to sell your wares
at Calvary's 1st Annual Craft Fair! 
 
Call or stop by the school office to reserve your 6 or 8-foot table for $40. Set up Friday night, 10/5 in the Parish Hall, and enjoy harvest-themed fun and fellowship selling your handmade goods on Saturday and Sunday. Each merchant will be asked to donate 1 item of his/her choice to our Raffle Table.  Raffle tickets will be sold prior to and during the Craft Fair.     
 
 All proceeds from table rentals and raffle tickets will go to the Scholarship Fund
 to help our families facing financial hardships.  
 
Hot Lunch Goes Retro  
Back by popular demand...the Friday Hot Lunch!
Due to feedback received from our parents, and the shortage of volunteers able to work hot lunch every day, Calvary has gone back to offering Hot Lunch only on Fridays.  Watch future Cross Connections for the sign up sheet.  Hot Lunch begins 8/31!
 
We still have great
Parent Participation Program (PPP) opportunities available.
 
Each of these jobs fulfills the 20-hour yearly requirement.
 
Friday Hot Lunch Program - 2 - 3 individuals to serve meals and sell snacks   
 
Library - 2 individuals to work in the school library  
 
Hot Lunch Towels - 1 individual to launder dish towels weekly 
 
Fundraising Coordinator - 1 individual to organize fundraisers

Recycling Ink Cartridges - 8 individuals to take empty toner cartridges to Staples or Office Depot once a month (at your leisure)

Lost & Found - 1 individual to go through Lost & Found items monthly

Yearbook Staff - Several individuals to collect pictures and work with the yearbook coordinator

We're bringing back the Auction!
Everyone loves a party. 
Call or email Cindy in the school office to help brainstorm for next year's party of parties--Calvary's  Auction!  Fun, food and an excuse to spend a little money on yourself while benefitting our kids!  What could be better?  :)

Stop by our e-Waste Collection Fundraiser with your old cell phones, laptops, TVs, monitors and wire. 

Small fee for recycling printers, copiers, fax machines, VCRs, video games, DVD players, CPUs, telephones, stereos and small appliances.

Oro Loma Sanitary District and Waste Department has proudly presented Calvary Lutheran School with a $100 check for participating in the Earth Day Poster Contest.  This donation will be placed in the "Scholarship & Financial Aid Account."

Successful Accreditation
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is pleased to announce that Calvary Lutheran School has been granted a 3-year term of accreditation.

We here at Calvary are busy getting ready for this year's VBS. Our 2012 theme is "Sky, Everything is Possible with God." The dates this year will be August 6-10.

 

            To make this as successful as possible, we need lots of people to help and we are hoping that you may want to join us.

            There are several areas in which you could help.

            We are in need of coordinators in the following areas.

PRESCHOOL- leading the children in the preschool age group. Work with the Kindergarten            coordinator and sharing Bible Story time, games and craft time, etc.

CRAFTS - coordinate the craft time. I have some ideas for the 5 crafts needed but if you have your own ideas that would be great.

PARKING - someone to coordinate a crew to guide cars safely in and out, especially the   first couple days.

 

Also, we need people to be crew leaders/guides, helpers in kindergarten and preschool, with crafts, snacks, parking, and helpers in Club 789.

 

            If you haven't been a crew leader before it is probably the easiest, yet important way to help. You basically guide 3-5 kids from one station to another. You will listen to the station leaders' promptings and help the kids experience the fun as they go from games, to crafts, to Bible Story etc.
