Important Message from Dr. Chivalette

Monday, May 18, 2015

Dear Calvary Lutheran School Parents and Families,

A little over two weeks remain in the current school year.  At this time, I am pleased to announce that we continue to show growth in regards to our enrollment for the 2015-2016 year.  We are over one-hundred students with at least seven new inquiries already seeking enrollment.

As most are aware, we have two current teachers retiring from the classroom.  Mrs. Margie Luehrs  served forty years and will retire from teaching the second grade.  She has been a loyal and faithful teacher at Calvary.  Mrs. Luehrs will continue to work with Dr. Chivalette as part-time school administrator beginning next year.  Mrs. Ruth Heinitz served one year with our third and fourth grade students and did an incredible job with them. Mrs. Heinitz will be seeking to work outside of education in the near future.  In addition, Mrs. Kristi Morlock (7th & 8th grade) received a call and will be moving to Colorado at the end of the current school year.  We greatly appreciate her service of eight years at CLS and wish her God's best.

We realize that God is faithful and in His wisdom, He has provided us with an excellent group of teachers to replace those moving on:

Annie Carbonaro.  Ms. Carbonaro will be teaching second grade at CLS in 2015-2016.  She is a graduate of Calvary Lutheran School and Biola University with a B.A. in elementary education.  Annie has served and taught ten years in Russia and the Ukraine and is fluent in both languages.  Miss Carbonaro will be married in August to Mr. Kyle Wilson, pastoral staff member at the Neighborhood Church.  We are blessed to have her as part of our staff.

Christina Grace.  Ms. Grace will be returning to teach our third-fourth grade class in 2015-2016 Ms. Grace recently completed a one-year position in Nebraska after previously serving at CLS for six years.  She is a graduate of Concordia University.  We are excited at her returning to work with our students.

Mrs. Sabina James.  Mrs. James will be teaching middle school math and science in 2015-2016.  Mrs. James has a B.S. in Engineering, a Master's in Computer Science and is working on completing a second master's in counseling.  She has over ten years teaching experience at the middle and high school levels.  We are truly fortunate that God brought us someone of her caliber to teach our middle school students.

Mrs. Chivalette taught science and history this past year at CLS.  Mrs. C will take over the Language Arts program for our middle school students.  Previously, she has taught twenty-seven years in the area of Language Arts.  This includes middle school and high school English including AP (Advanced Placement English Language and AP English Literature).

Dr. Chivalette will teach middle school social studies, a subject area he majored in and taught for fourteen years prior to becoming an administrator.

On a final note, many thanks are due for the hard work and diligence of our Calvary Family Association who did a fantastic job with our annual CLS auction and dinner.  Please take the time to thank Mrs. Rita Revill, Mrs. Karla Regnier, and Mrs. Rachel Scott.  I also want to thank all of the parents, teachers, and staff who made the evening a huge success and lots of fun!
