 Church and School Beautification/Service Day

Kids Cleaning        CLEAN

Calvary's Campus Beautification Day - Saturday, January 30, 2016, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon is Calvary's Beautification Day.  This is another great opportunity to earn PPP Hours and help spruce up our campus as we get ready for Open House, which is the following Friday, February 5, 2016.

Washing Hands
Make Hand-Washing a Habit

Kids who wash their hands at least four times a day have 24 percent fewer sick days from colds and flu, and 51 percent fewer sick days due to stomach illnesses.  (American Public Health Association).

Teach kids to scrub their whole hands - up to the wrists and under the fingernails - and to do it long enough to sing the ABCs or "Happy Birthday" all the way through.  A timer works well, too.

STREP THROAT     Strep Throat

Please note that a case of strep throat is going on at Calvary.
Please watch your child for any symptoms.

Strep throat is a common and contagious infection caused by Group A streptococcus bacteria. Strep throat may affect anyone, but it is especially common among children

What Are the Symptoms of Strep Throat?
  • Sore throat that comes on rapidly
  • Pain and Difficulty swallowing
  • Headaches
  • Fever, sometimes greater than 102 degrees Fahrenheit (38.3 C)
  • A raw, red appearance to the back of the throat
  • White pus on tonsils
  • Tender, high lymph nodes in neck
  • Abdominal pain
  • Rash
  • Absence of a cough, stuffy nose, or other upper-respiratory symptoms
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the neck and tonsils
Although by definition strep throat is caused by the Streptococcuspyogenes bacteria, other bacteria, such as neisseria, can occasionally invade the throat and cause similar symptoms.

If you have any questions regarding your child's symptoms, please contact your local physician.

It is easy to tell when you have a sore throat or a cold. It is harder to know when you have strep throat. Typically, sore throats are caused by a viral infection and not strep bacteria. Strep throat usually does not occur with cold symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or a runny or stuffy nose. The more cold symptoms you have, the less likely it is that your sore throat is a strep infection.

If you have any questions regarding your child's symptoms, please contact your local physician.

Please note:  THE ABOVE IS ONLY A GUIDELINE.  Please contact your local physician if you have any questions or concerns.

Thermometer       Sick Child      Sick Boy     Child Vomiting

Cold and Flu Season are here!

If you feel your child is sick or might be sick, we ask you to please keep them at home.

If your child's temperature is 99.6 degrees or higher, it is considered a low-grade temperature. Please keep your child at home as whatever your child has is now considered contagious.

A child must be FEVER FREE (NO fever), no diarrhea, and not vomiting, WITHOUT any medications (Acetaminophen/ Tylenol, Ibuprofen/Motrin) in their system for at least 24 hours before they can return to school.

If your child suddenly comes down with the following symptoms:  fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, fatigue, rash, nausea or vomiting - we encourage you to contact your local physician and discuss your child's symptoms.

Again, a child must NOT have had a fever and/or not vomiting, without any medication in their system for at least 24 hours before they may be able to return to school.

Do not forget to let your school secretary know that your child will not be in school. If you would like to pick up any homework after school, please let the secretary know at that time.

Just a reminder     IMPORTANT NOTES & REMINDERS

HOT LUNCH:  Hot Lunch is on Friday full-days only.  Hot lunch MUST be ordered no later than Tuesday 12:00 noon before the Friday Hot Lunch is served.  If your child brings money the day of hot lunch, your child may be not be guaranteed a "Friday Hot Lunch."  Students who paid and signed up ahead of time will be served first.  Click on the blue to download menu  Hot Lunch Menu (Jan. 22 - May 27, 2016).

Snack Table - There is a snack table at every Friday Hot Lunch table.  Each item is 25 cents and there is a limit of two (2) items per person.  We have items like cookies, fruit snacks, string cheese, pretzel, beef jerky, pickles and more.

CLS IS A PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE SCHOOL CAMPUS We have several students who are extremely sensitive to any and all peanut/tree nut products and this is very dangerous to their health and well-being.  Some students could even have such a severe reaction to nuts that it becomes life threatening.  Please do not send your child to school with any snacks or lunches that have peanuts or are from a tree nut.  These types of snacks and lunches might be reserved for something special, like a special treat at home.

BE ON TIME/PUNCTUALITY It is important for all of our children to learn that getting to school on time, turning in assignments thoroughly completed and within the allotted days, and always being prepared are not only vital for school but important elements of success as an adult.

REST & NUTRITION:  Make sure you child gets adequate rest every night and a nourishing breakfast each morning.  Your child needs a good fruit break and lunch each day.  Please do not send soft drinks or sugary treats.

AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP:  Plan to pick up your child(ren) by 3:00 p.m. every day.  Half-days are 11:30 a.m.  If you are unable to pick up your child up by 3:10 p.m., (or 11:40 a.m. on half-days), your child(ren) will automatically go to Calvary Club and you will be held responsible for any charges.

LOST & FOUND:  Please check the Lost & Found bin and recover your child's clothes or other valuables.  Please write the names or initials of your students on clothes and valuables in case they get misplaced.  If the name is on the item, we can often return it to its owner.    **Clothing items not recovered are being donated.

"Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating
on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious -
the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.
Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized.
Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
(Phil. 4:8 MSG.)
