RE-Enrollment packets and information for the 2016-17 school went home with your child yesterday.  If you did not receive a re-enrollment packet, please see the school secretary, or you may download the form at the bottom of this page.

Remember those who RE-enroll by February 5, 2016, lock in to last year's tuition.  If you do not re-enroll by February 5th, tuition is increased significantly.

Enrollment for New Families:  Enrollment for the 2016-17 school year will be open to outside families on February 5, 2016.  We are expecting a full house this coming school year, so it will be on a first-come first-serve basis.

Meanwhile, if you know a family who is interested in attending Calvary Lutheran School, please have them contact the school secretary to receive an information packet, set-up an appointment to take a tour, or they may also be able to shadow one of our students.

If they enroll and attend CLS for at least one semester, they will receive a "family referral discount!" In addition, you will receive a "family referral discount" as well.

HOT LUNCH:  New Hot Lunch Menu was sent home on Monday.  Please note that Hot Lunch is on Friday full-days only.  Always check your menu.  Hot lunch will not be served on half-days. Hot lunch MUST be ordered no later than Tuesday 12:00 noon before the Friday Hot Lunch is served.  If your child brings money the day of hot lunch, your child may be not be guaranteed a "Friday Hot Lunch."  Students who paid and signed up ahead of time will be served first.   There is no hot lunch this Friday, January 15th as it is a half-day.
Click on the blue to download menu  Hot Lunch Menu (Jan. 22 - May 27, 2016).

Please note:  There is a credit pending for those students (K-8th) who paid for the Dec. 17th lunch, and they did not receive a hot lunch because of the International Luncheon.  Students who wish to order hot lunch for that day whether or not they have a credit must check off or circle that day and write in the "Notes" - Credit.
If you are not sure if you are to receive a credit or not, we will review your account status.

CLS IS A PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE SCHOOL CAMPUS We have several students who are extremely sensitive to any and all peanut/tree nut products and this is very dangerous to their health and well-being.  Some students could even have such a severe reaction to nuts that it becomes life threatening.  Please do not send your child to school with any snacks or lunches that have peanuts or are from a tree nut.  These types of snacks and lunches might be reserved for something special, like a special treat at home.

BE ON TIME/PUNCTUALITY It is important for all of our children to learn that getting to school on time, turning in assignments thoroughly completed and within the allotted days, and always being prepared are not only vital for school but important elements of success as an adult.

REST & NUTRITION:  Make sure you child gets adequate rest every night and a nourishing breakfast each morning.  Your child needs a good fruit break and lunch each day.  Please do not send soft drinks or sugary treats.

AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP:  Plan to pick up your child(ren) by 3:00 p.m. every day.  Half-days are 11:30 a.m.  If you are unable to pick up your child up by 3:10 p.m., (or 11:40 a.m. on half-days), your child(ren) will automatically go to Calvary Club and you will be held responsible for any charges.

LOST & FOUND:  Please check the Lost & Found bin and recover your child's clothes or other valuables.  Please write the names or initials of your students on clothes and valuables in case they get misplaced.  If the name is on the item, we can often return it to its owner.    **Clothing items not recovered will be donated next week.

Washing Hands
Make Hand-Washing a Habit

Kids who wash their hands at least four times a day have 24 percent fewer sick days from colds and flu, and 51 percent fewer sick days due to stomach illnesses.  (American Public Health Association).

Teach kids to scrub their whole hands - up to the wrists and under the fingernails - and to do it long enough to sing the ABCs or "Happy Birthday" all the way through.  A timer works well, too.

Thermometer       Sick Child      Sick Boy     Child Vomiting

Cold and Flu Season are here!

If you feel your child is sick or might be sick, we ask you to please keep them at home.

If your child's temperature is 99.6 degrees or higher, it is considered a low-grade temperature. Please keep your child at home as whatever your child has is now considered contagious.

A child must be FEVER FREE (NO fever), no diarrhea, and not vomiting, WITHOUT any medications (Acetaminophen/ Tylenol, Ibuprofen/Motrin) in their system for at least 24 hours before they can return to school.

If your child suddenly comes down with the following symptoms:  fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, fatigue, rash, nausea or vomiting - we encourage you to contact your local physician and discuss your child's symptoms.

Again, a child must NOT have had a fever and/or not vomiting, without any medication in their system for at least 24 hours before they may be able to return to school.

Do not forget to let your school secretary know that your child will not be in school. If you would like to pick up any homework after school, please let the secretary know at that time.

Money for our school is in the Bag!

Heads up!  We are participating in a Schoola Clothing Drive and turning outgrown clothes into money for our school.

Here is how it works:

- Fill a bag with clothes for children and women.  Women's handbags and shoes get extra smiles.

- No sleepwear, undies, socks or damaged/stained/altered items.  Let's keep it clean.

- Pop the attached label onto the bag to make sure our schools gets credit.

Click on the blue to download label:  Schoola Mailing Label

- Drop the bag off at Calvary Lutheran on later than Thursday, January 21, 2016

Calvary and Schoola will take it from there.  They will sort, spiff and sell the items, and 40% of the proceeds go to our school!!!

If you have any questions, please feel to contact the school secretary at (510) 278-2598, or the church secretary at (510) 278-2555.  Thank You!
